Alabama is the new champion in College Football after they thrashed Ohio State in the Playoff National Championship. And all the credit goes to DeVonta Smith, who portrayed the best offensive skills in his starting NFL career.
Smith is now a star during his college career, and we bet he will be receiving the annual award given to the most outstanding player in College Football- Heisman Trophy. He recorded 12 catches, 215 yards, and 3 touchdowns during the Monday game, and all these stats were in the first half.
A stunning first-half performance from this young NFL player, who now single handily, contributed to most points to give Alabama a significant point margin of 52-24 win over Ohio State. Smith was critical during the first minutes, and it seems no Ohio State Quarterback could stop him from inflicting more pain to the opposing team to win the College Football Playoff Title.
As it stands, Smith, 22-years-old, is now a target for most NFL general managers who will be dying to have him as their rookie NFL player in the 2021 season. But we will have to wait and see which teams will be competing for this promising young wide receiver.
We are 100% confident that Smith will be featured in the 2021 draft as the first selection for receivers following his first-half performance during the National Championship game. He made history with that performance because no other player has recorded such stats in the last few years during a College Football Playoff Final.
Unfortunately, Smith injured his right hand when he dislocated his finger during the second half, and he had to go off. However, he had already established himself as the Crimson Tide star of the game.
Monday game saw many prospects from both teams in question. Alabama RB Najee Harris scored 2 touchdowns bringing his total tally to 26 touchdowns for the season. Daniel Jeremiah, an NFL Network draft analyst, had profiled Harris as pro potential in the NFL during last summer bout. Harris recorded 79 yards, and another NFL Network analyst, Lance Zierlein, believes that he boosted his draft pick with his senior performance in the 2020 season.
Another young prospect in the Crimson Tide team was QB Mac Jones, who completed 36 passes from his 45 passing trials for 464 yards. Jones didn’t record an interception, but he contributed to the winning points with 5 touchdowns.
But with all these prospects showcasing their young skills, Smith had already shown his playing capabilities in the first half before his finger injury.
However, most prospects had the worst day of their young College Football career when it came to the opposing team-Ohio State. QB Justin Fields struggled in the first half and completed 17 out of 34 passes for 67 yards. The other prospects were RB Trey Sermon and offensive guard Wyatt Davis, who exited the game with injuries.
So, the Playoff Final was a bolstering stage for the 22-year-old WR DeVonta Smith as he stunned everyone with a record-breaking first-half performance to give Alabama the title.
