Seattle Seahawks’ Defensive End Damontre Moore Suspended for 6 Games

As the 2020 NFL season continues amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Week 8 became one of the best weeks that the league has witnessed since the beginning of the season. There were no positive tests for coronavirus league-wide, and the games went ahead as scheduled following the NFL confirmation.

At the moment, it shows tremendous improvement in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 in the league following stiff new contingency plans introduced by the NFL after numerous teams witnessed the cruelty of the virus following the outbreak of the coronavirus in their organization and forcing the closure of their facility and postponement of their games in response to contain the spread of the virus.

Once again, the Seattle Seahawks proved that they are unstoppable despite having many injuries in their team or their starters missing when they won against the San Francisco 49ers 37-27 in their Week 8 game.

The message is loud and clear across the league that the Seattle Seahawk (6-1) is the team to beat since they are recording new wins with the most unlikely contributors.

On Monday, the league announced that the veteran defensive end Damontre Moore has been suspended for 6 games without pay due to the violation of the NFL policy on performance-enhancement substances.

Moore would be back for the Seattle Seahawks’ active roster on December 14, barely after their game against the New York Jets on Week 14. But he could be eligible to return to their lineup in Week 15 game against the Washington Football Team.

In just 7 games this season, Moore has a sack, a forced fumble, and 8 tackles. He played 22 snaps on Sunday and had 2 total tackles in their 37-27 victory against the San Francisco 49ers.

The 28-year-old Moore 7 games this season marked the most he’s played in a year since he was with the New York Giants in 2015. In 2017 while playing for the Dallas Cowboys, he got suspended for the first 2 games due to violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

Moore, the former Texas A&M standout, signed a 1-year contract worth $910,000 with the Seattle Seahawks this year. In his 8 NFL seasons, he has played for numerous teams that’s the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers.

Defensive end Damontre Moore’s suspension is another headache for the Seattle Seahawks’ defensive line, especially after DE Bruce Irvin had a season-ending ACL injury that he suffered in Week 2, and are without Rasheem Green since the opener. Moreover, 2-round pick DE rookie Darrell Taylor is on the non-football injury list and has yet to play.

The Seattle Seahawks will have to rely on their new trade defensive end Carlos Dunlap who they acquired from the Cincinnati Bengals last week. Green, who is expected to return this week off injured reserve ahead of their Sunday game against the Buffalo Bills in their Week 9 game.
