As we go to Week 4 starting on October 2, and the first matchup between the Broncos and the Jets, there were some rumors whether the Titans would play their Week 4 game against the Steelers following COVID-19 disruptions.
It’s also likely to see the Vikings game against the Texans also postponed.
On Thursday, it was confirmed that the Week 4 game between the Pittsburg Steelers and the Tennessee Titans would not play and be rescheduled for later this season. The NFL released a statement that talked of why they were forced to postpone the next game for the Titans.
The statement read that the Pittsburgh-Tennessee Week 4 game was going to be rescheduled for later this season. The decision was after one personnel member, and one Titans player tested positive for the coronavirus. And now, we are waiting for the announcement of the new game date.
They decided to postpone Steelers Vs. Titans game for the concern of players, coaches, and game day personnel by maintaining their health and safety. Also, the Titans club facilities will remain closed after the NFL suspended any in-person activities until further notice.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Media, there are 5 players and 6 personnel from the Titans team who have tested positive for COVID-19. Last week, a Titans coach also tested positive for the coronavirus.
By Thursday morning, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the two new coronavirus cases were discovered withing the Titans team. This prompted the NFL to take the necessary step to maintain a COVID-safe environment and maintain all heathy and safety protocols set in case of positive COVID-19 tests.
After the Week 3 game between the Titans and Vikings, which was played on Sunday, the Titans released news of some of their players and members testing positive for the deadly virus. Both the Titans and the Vikings were required to suspend all in-person club activities by Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the NFL announced that Steelers Vs. Titans, Week 4 game, was to be played either on coming Monday or Tuesday. But with the new developments of the more positive coronavirus tests, it now seems impossible.
On the other hand, the Vikings are yet to release any news on positive cases among its players or personnel. And you can imagine the proximity in which the players came into contact with each other during their Week 3 game.
The Steelers and the Titans are yet to lose a game this season, and they are 3-0 each. Steelers came from behind to beat the Texans on Sunday, while the Titans were lucky enough to beat the Vikings.
Both teams in question are expected to play their next game on Sunday, October 11, to allow the quarantine period of 14 days. The Steelers will face the Eagles while the Titans will face the Bills.
