Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris have accused current US President Donald Trump of incompetence.
The US president, who is seeking re-election in the upcoming presidential election on the Republican ticket, has been accused of leaving the US in tatters.
The day after Mr. Biden confirmed Ms. Harris, the two held their first joint campaign event and criticized Trump in their address.
At an event held at Alexi I DuPont High School in Wilmington on Wednesday, which was closed to the public amid the coronavirus pandemic, the two while also wearing the masks had to address group of socially distantanced and masked journalists. A few minutes before the event, around 75 people gathered in light rain to take a look at the two candidates.
In his speech, Biden, 77, said his deputy, a California senator, would be the first to serve as the deputy president of a major U.S. party.
He went on to say that the decision Americans will make next November will determine their future for a very long time.
The Democratic presidential candidate added that the US president has already started his attacks on Kamala, but also admitted that it is Trump’s best than any other US president in history.
Also criticized the way Trump dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, the unemployment rate, and the politics of racism.
When Ms. Harris stepped on the podium, she said she was ready to work. The 55-year-old, who once served as a prosecutor, added that this is a moment of real ramifications for America.
Ms. Harris, of Indian and Jamaican descent, said everything that matters – the economy, health, children, and the country – are at stake. He went on to say that the country is crying out for leadership amid a president who only cares about himself than the people who voted him.
He added that thanks to Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Trump inherited the longest expanded economy in history but dumped everything, and that is exactly what happens when a guy who is not up to the job is elected. The country is falling into tatters and with it the reputation it has around the world.
Mr. Trump responded later Wednesday during a white conference that Ms. Harris fell like a rock in her presidential bid.
Since Mr. Biden confirmed Mrs. Harris on Tuesday evening, much has been said between these two candidates.
Mr. Biden is 20 years older than Ms. Harris. He is a Whiteman born to working-class parents in Pennsylvania. Harris, on the other hand, is a multiracial California woman who was born to Indian and Jamaican immigrants.
But in their first joint podium as a candidate, both spoke what they consider to be in common. Mr. Biden said her running mate’s story is America’s story, although it differs from his in many ways, including not in essence.
Ms. Harris also reiterated claims that both were cuts made from the same cloth.
Although their messages called for national healing and unity, they could not avoid attacking their general opponents.
