Although Trump is optimistic that the current coronavirus pandemic in the United States could be contained by Easter, it is getting worse than better from today’s perspective and what might be confirmed tomorrow. During his press conference, President Donald Trump said the country could now experience the top of the curve.
This happens after the United States recorded 1,736 deaths in a single day. This is by far the highest level since this pandemic started worldwide and is well above the record number recorded on April 4.
The numbers, which were confirmed on Tuesday, cause the US to have 12,857 deaths from the virus. Over 400,000 cases have been confirmed nationwide and the numbers are expected to be higher as some countries have not to shard their records yet.
Surprisingly, the large percentage of confirmed deaths came from the state of New York, the most affected state in the country. The state, now known as the epicenter of the outbreak, had a total of 731 deaths on Tuesday.
It is projected that the State will record more cases than those recorded in Italy, the most hit country in Europe. The State governor Andrew Cuomo has said the state appears to be nearing the peak of the pandemic. Across the state, hospitals and intensive care units are full of coronavirus patients.
He also urged people to stay inside and maintain social distance, even if it can be difficult.
As Passover and Easter drew near, New Yorkers were told to avoid large gatherings to curb the spread of the pandemic. Meanwhile, Wisconsin elections were not affected by this current pandemic and continued as planned.
On the same Tuesday, the family of American singer-songwriter John Prine confirmed his death due to complications after being infected with the coronavirus.
The man known for songs like Sam Stone and Angel from Montgomery died in Nashville on Tuesday at the age of 73. His wife was also confirmed positive, but he recovered. However, after being in the hospital since last month, Prine was overwhelmed by the symptoms and left the world.
The singer has received a lot of recognition from other singers. Those who paid the tribute include Bruce Springsteen and Margo Price.
During the same Tuesday, when Trump held a press conference, he said he was hesitant to continue discussing WHO despite the U.S. predicting more deaths. According to the President’s Task Force, more than 240,000 people in the US could die from the virus.
Trump attacked the World Health Organization for giving bad advice and focusing too much on China. He said WHO is heavily funded by the United States, but they are more focused on China. So the United States will hold back some money that is for the WHO.
Conversely, the situation in China looks somewhat more relaxed than it did a few months ago when the virus broke out. They unlocked their most affected capital of Hubei province, Wuhan, which has been locked for eleven weeks.
