Tommy Frank vs Maximino Flores IBO World Title Fight Postponed

Dennis Hobson who is the promoter of the fight between Tommy Frank vs. Maximino Flores has done everything within his capability including partnering with Eurosport channel a few days ago to make the fight for the International Boxing Organization (IBO) belt take place, but the promoter has regrettably announced the postponement of the match.

The match was formerly slated to hold on the 27th of March 2020 at Sheffield’s ponds forge Arena, but the main reason for the cancellation is due to the current pandemic COVID-19 that is affecting all sports and some sports fans around the world. Moreover, Dennis Hobson explained that it is an international fight where fans and officials will come into the country to participate. As it stands, there are travel restrictions in some countries. Health officials that are supposed to be on the ground for the fight will be busy with ending the pandemic. Neither the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) nor the government officials are giving the nod for the fight to commence as scheduled.

Tommy Frank expressed disappointment about the cancellation of the fight, he promised to remain in the gym and be hungrier than ever to surmount Maximino Flores whenever the fight happens. Tommy is the fan favorite to win the match, the fight will be happening in his base at Sheffield.

The young champ has 13-0 (3), the fight between him and Maximino Flores will be his 14th fight where he’s hoping to win the biggest match of his boxing career. The 26-year-old boxer already has the super-flyweight World Boxing Council (WBC), commonwealth silver straps, and he got his IBO belt in November 2019 that set him up for the fight with Flores.

Maximino Flores is 28 years old and this is the first time he will be fighting in the UK, though he has been winning fights in his country Mexico and away from home in the Philippines. Though he is older and more experienced than Tommy, Maximino has had four defeats in 33 fights. He is the current holder of the IBO belt, which he won in the Philippines, Dennis Hobson has done a great job to convince him to fight a younger and less experienced opponent.

Dennis Hobson urged his fans to keep the faith, and he said the date of the fight would be rescheduled after the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans who have already bought tickets for this match, can go ahead to get a refund at the point of purchase if they wish to get a refund.
